Hi, I just wanted to share a little about myself and the inspiration behind this blog. I love helping people and I love to feed people. With that love of food comes a love of knowledge about food, the science and history behind it. Food plays a huge part in our everyday lives and most of us consume food without ever giving what we are eating a second thought. That was me until I was told I would benefit from gluten free, dairy free and sugar free, needless to say, it was hard and I quickly added sugar back in, however I stuck to gluten free and dairy free for four years until I had my son and with all the changes that come with pregnancy I was getting very bad migraines so I'm back to a regular diet. However, I am still conscious of what I bring to gatherings because I remember the feeling of not being included, it's funny how something as simple as food can make us feel included or forgotten about. It was also so disappointing that everything I was eating at the start of my gluten free and dairy free journey tasted like cardboard and the texture was always just kind of off. So I dove into as many articles on food as I could looking for a way to make food taste and feel like I remembered. And I did finally figure it out it and along the way, I gained so much information about food and the science behind it even the history of how food has changed. And I want to share that with you. another big component to starting this blog was how often I heard the comment on my food that I would bring to things that meet their allergy needs is, I can't believe this is allergy friendly or something to that extent. And it makes me sad that they aren't experiencing how good food can be and not cause them to have a reaction. So I want for everyone whether we have met or not to enjoy food.
Now for the mom side of me, I know that often times we don't even read all those paragraphs before we get to the recipe. we just scroll on down until we find the recipe because life is busy and we don't have time to read all of the other stuff, I mean it has been a successful day if everyone is fed and the dishes cleaned up. I get it and that's why I wrote my post the way I did, recipe and then a little about the recipe and with some extra little tips. I also write my recipes with the allergy-friendly recommendations next to the regular ingredients so that way you can see how the substitutions match up. As well as making it possible for someone who doesn't cook for those specific need to see it's not that difficult so that they can cook for a loved one or a friend or even someone they don't necessarily know and meet their dietary needs.
Feel free to contact me with questions, or recipes you'd like to see up on my blog. and I would love if you would share my blog with others. You can also follow and share my posts on Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook just search A Foodie In All Of Us.
